Julius Berg Kaasin’s practice concentrates on intellectual property rights (IP) such as trademarks, copyright, patents and designs, as well as trade secrets, unfair competition and technology law. Julius advises clients on the establishment, maintenance, enforcement, and commercialisation of intellectual property rights. He also has experience within a broad range of industries, including retail, media, energy, technology, life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, also as an in-house legal counsel.
Julius is experienced in contract drafting and negotiations, the development of IP strategies, and M&As of technology companies. He is also an experienced litigator.
He was recommended within Intellectual Property in Chambers and Partners 2017 and ranked as “Up and Coming” in merchandising/retail law the Norwegian financial newspaper’s (Finansavisen) annual lawyer survey 2022, 2020 and 2019. He is also ranked by Finansavisen within «Intellectual Property Law».
Julius is a Board Member of the Norwegian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (NIR), Norwegian Anti-Counterfeiting Group (NACG), and Licensing Executives Society Scandinavia (LES Scandinavia). He is also a supervisor and examiner at master level (law) at both the University of Oslo and University of Bergen. Julius is an editor of the Norwegian IP blog “IP-trollet”, and is a frequent writer, speaker and lecturer in his areas of expertise.
